Hiking and Biking<\/h3>\n

There is an abundance of hiking and biking opportunities in Boyne City and the surrounding area…<\/p>\n

Avalanche<\/strong> <\/a>recreation area is located on the south side of town has over 8 miles of multi-use trails, which include some of the best and challenging mountain biking in northern Michigan.  You also can't beat the views of Lake Charlevoix from the top! Click here for maps and additional information regarding activities at Avalanche such as disc golf and archery.<\/a><\/p>\n

Boyne City (in-town) non-motorized pathway travels along the full length of Division St. and Front St. along the waterfront.  There are sidewalks and bike lanes that connect this path to the downtown and around other areas of the City.<\/p>\n

The Boyne Valley Trail<\/strong><\/a> is a non-motorized, paved trail, approximately 6 miles long connecting Boyne City to Boyne Falls (including Boyne Mnt.). Click here for additional trail information, maps, trailheads, amenities, etc.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Boyne Forest Trail<\/strong> is currently an 8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located just a few miles outside of downtown Boyne City that is good for all skill levels. The trails are groomed through the winter months to provide access and fun throughout year.  Additional trails are being constructed on adjacent land to expand the trail system for more riding \/ hiking options.  Follow them on facebook<\/a> for updates and the latest news.<\/p>\n

Boyne City to Charlevoix Trail<\/strong><\/a> has sections from Charlevoix heading east and Boyne City heading west; but they have not completed the additional phases necessary to connect the two ends.  Charlevoix County Planning Dept and Parks & Rec Dept. along with user groups are working hard to secure the funding necessary to be able to complete the project in phases to address the missing middle sections.  Click here to visit the County's site for trail updates or for information on how to make a donation.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Boyne River Nature Trai<\/strong>l is strictly for hiking but the scenery, wildlife, wildflowers and sound of the flowing river makes this trail well worth visiting.  The trailhead located in the City's industrial Park off Lexamar Dr.<\/p>\n

Little Traverse Conservancy <\/a><\/strong>owns and preserves land throughout northern Michigan.  These preserves have a wide range of activity options and access.  Visiting their site landtrust.org<\/a> for a complete list of locations and descriptions of each preserve.<\/p>\n
