FREE Street Trees<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The primary purpose of the tree planting project is to replace trees that have been removed due to disease or improper trimming because of poor placement and species selection that occurred 50 to 75 years ago. <\/p>\n

With the planting of additional trees, it will help Boyne City move closer to its’ goal of once again having tree lined streets.  Over the years, poor species placement and utility line interference has caused the demise of many old growth local trees.  This project will benefit all of the citizens of Boyne City, not just the individual homeowners, by its beautification and increased contribution to the reduction of global warming.<\/p>\n

 The trees have the best chance of survival if they are planted in the fall.  Any resident interested in obtaining a tree in the city right of way abutting their property, please call City Hall at 582-6597, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:3- pm, and your name and tree preference will be placed on the planting list. Homeowners will be asked to assist the City in watering the trees with water instructions given to ensure a good start for the re-location of the trees.<\/p>\n
